DRIVERS using one of Huddersfield’s busiest roads face weeks of roadworks disruption.
Council officials have confirmed plans to carry out major works on Penistone Road at Fenay Bridge.
Some work will take place at weekends but there will also be work on weekdays.
The road resurfacing works on both sides of the A629 Penistone Road at Fenay Bridge, will get under way on Sunday, March 17.
The works are taking place along an 800-metre stretch of the road between Fenay Lea Drive and Whitegates Grove and should be completed by early April, weather permitting.
The scheme is part of a wider programme of works for Wakefield Road and Penistone Road that were approved by Kirklees cabinet members last year.
The section between Fenay Lea Drive and Station Road will generally be undertaken over the Sundays of March 17 and 24 and April 7, while work on the section between Station Road and Whitegates Grove will be carried out on weekdays, predominantly between 9.30am and 3.30pm so that they are outside peak times.
