A LINDLEY doctor has been suspended after criminal convictions for driving crimes.

Dr Habib Ullah, 58, has been given a six-month suspension by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.

The doctor, from Gatesgarth Crescent, Lindley, had been convicted of dangerous driving and failing to provide a breath test sample. He was given a nine-month jail term suspended for two years, a curfew and a two-year driving ban when he appeared at Leeds Crown Court. He was subsequently convicted of breaching the curfew.

Now the tribunal has ruled that his fitness to practise has been impaired by the convictions.

Dr Ullah left a trail of havoc on a Huddersfield road. His silver Mercedes C350 collided with parked cars on Birchington Avenue, Birchencliffe – and a Mazda sports car was written off.

The tribunal’s fitness to practise panel said his actions “breached a fundamental tenet of the profession, were a significant departure from good medical practice and had brought the profession into disrepute.

“In particular the panel was concerned about the need to declare and uphold proper standards of conduct and behaviour.

“The panel noted the suspended prison sentence was a measure of the seriousness of what you have done,” the statement added.
