A MAN was lucky to escape jail after assaulting his mother while on bail for attacking a child in the street.
Jacob Bower avoided prison by the “skin of his teeth” after the attacks which happened just two months apart.
His solicitor told how the 22-year-old had become aggressive after using bodybuilding steroids.
District Judge Marie Mallon, sitting in Huddersfield, heard how the first assault took place on August 19.
Bower, from Chapel Close in Skelmanthorpe, was travelling in a car with his girlfriend when they began to argue.
This argument was heard in the street and the 15-year-old, who cannot be named, came over to help her.
Bower responded by grabbing hold of the boy by his hooded top and head-butting him.
The boy’s front tooth was pushed back in the attack when it was hit by Bower’s head.
The teenager fell back over a small wall and some bushes while Bower got back into his car and drove off.
On October 27 he assaulted his mother Rebecca Rowland at her Skelmanthorpe home.
