CAMPAIGNERS came together in Huddersfield to raise awareness about green jobs.

At their rally in St George’s Square they also called on MPs to support a green jobs amendment to the Energy Bill.

The Huddersfield action was organised by newly-formed Huddersfield Eco Action Team (HEAT) in support of the national day of action co-ordinated by the UK Youth Climate Coalition’s Youth for Green Jobs campaign.

HEAT is calling on local MPs Jason McCartney and Barry Sheerman to support the amendment, which they claim is vital for expanding the green jobs market for young people.

Coalition co-director Isobel Tarr, said: “It’s inspiring to see young people taking action across the UK. This sends a strong signal to MPs from across the political spectrum to put party politics aside and support the green jobs amendment.”
