DOZENS of people joined together to take part in a march against violence to women.

The men and women, of all faiths and backgrounds, participated in the walk in Huddersfield town centre.

They met at the Parish Church before marching to the Town Hall and then on to the Hindu Temple.

Members of each faith group offered prayers and reflections on the role of women in society.

They enjoyed Indian refreshments at the temple.

The event was organised by the Yorkshire Women’s Federation for World Peace.

Chairwoman Kiran Bali said: “We celebrated the spirit of womanhood and commemorated the contribution of women in political, economic and social decision-making at all levels in society.”
