Winners in this year’s festival, organised by Meltham Over-60s’ Club, were judged by Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney and Holme Valley North Councillor Terry Lyons.

They included ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’, made by Country Flowers florists, ‘Peter Andre’ by Barbara Smith and ‘Alien’ by Oscar Burrer in the children’s category.

The festival included a poster competition for schools, a performance by Almondbury Majorettes and by Mikron Theatre group from Marsden.

The proceeds of the event will be split between two charities to be confirmed later.

Festival organiser and Meltham Over-60s’ Club chairman Philip Kaye said: “It was heaving. It’s the best festival we’ve had so far thanks to the good weather.

“All the shops that stayed open did well, especially the fish and chip shop.”
