A MAN was dragged from his car at gunpoint in a terrifying carjacking near a Huddersfield village.

The 35-year-old victim had stopped his high-performance car at the roadside in Honley when the two thieves struck.

Witnesses told villagers the thieves used a gun to force their victim out of the car.

The carjacking happened at 4.10pm on Friday at Bradshaw Road and the thieves drove off in a metallic blue VW Golf RS32, registration number MF07 LGJ.

The victim, who lives in the Holme Valley , escaped unhurt.

Det Insp Andy Leonard from Kirklees CID said: “We believe this was a targeted attack rather than an opportunist offence.

“The victim ran off and managed to get to a friend’s house where he raised the alarm. The car is still missing so if anyone sees it left anywhere they need to call police immediately.

“The two suspects were on foot in the area so we also need to hear from anyone who may have seen them in the village before the crime was committed.”

He added: “I would like to reassure people that these kind of offences are rare.”

The VW Golf RS32 is a high-performance car which can go from 0-60mph in just six seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.

The models cost £26,000 new and the stolen one will be worth around £11,000.

After stealing the car the thieves were seen speeding off along Bradshaw Road towards Honley village.

The first thief is a black man in his early 20s, 5ft 9ins tall, skinny to medium build with short black hair and a thick black moustache. He was wearing a black bomber-style jacket.

His accomplice is white, around 20 years of age, 5ft 9ins, pale-skinned and slimmer than the first male.

He was wearing a dark coloured bomber-style jacket and a green bandana.

Det Insp Leonard added: “If anyone saw the stolen car being driven from the scene then we need to speak to them too.”

Anyone with information should contact Kirklees CID on 101.
