HUDDERSFIELD made a starring TV appearance on BBC 2 show Town last night.
Host Nicholas Crane took viewers from our humble beginnings as a village, through the expansion under the Ramsden family and our growth as one of the world's top textile areas.
The hour-long programme also looked at our sporting heritage as well as our future.
It also featured an interview with Mirfield-born star Sir Patrick Stewart , now Chancellor of Huddersfield University , about how Huddersfield lured him back to England from Hollywood.
The show sparked a real buzz on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter with thousands giving their views on the programme - and how it represented Huddersfield.
On the Examiner's Facebook page Carol Howe said: "Did the presenter like saying Huddersfield because he must have said it over 100 times throughout the programme! Anyway am proud to be from Huddersfield!"
Alan Liddell wrote: "Proud to be from Huddersfield. I get all the patronising comments about the north of England and our awesome towns and cities since living down south. It is not until you point out the dullest places where they all grew up that they shut up! C'mon Town!"
While Julie Brian wrote: "Brilliant programme made me so proud to live here and I'm not even from here!"
Steven Kaye summed up many people's feelings: "Watched it and enjoyed it, great to see good things said about town for once."
