Pop singer keeps school promise

Nick Mager

POP singer Nikk Mager is bringing his boy band Phixx to his old school - fulfilling a promise he made when he was a student.

The group will stage two concerts at Huddersfield Grammar School on Monday, October 13.

Excited pupils will hear Phixx sing debut single Hold On Me.

The song is released on October 27 and Nikk, 19, from Greetland, has made sure his old school is on the tour to promote it.

Millions saw him lose out in last year's finals of TV's Popstars: The Rivals.

He has teamed up in Phixx with four other entrants for a £500,000, three-album deal.

Grammar school joint head Janet Straughan said: "We're all very proud of him. He always said he'd come back when he was famous."

Phixx will perform first for year 7, 8 and 9 pupils, then do it again for older students in Years 10 and 11.

Mrs Straughan said: "It's going to be a real treat. I've just come back from telling the younger pupils and they're really excited."

Also in Phixx are Chris Park, Pete Smith, Andrew Kinlochan and Mikey Green.

They have been working with Blue's Lee Ryan and Westlife's Bryan McFadden.
