Huddersfield community groups plan fundraising events for fallen Yorkshire Regiment soldiers

FUNDRAISING events are being planned in Huddersfield to commemorate the lives of six soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Three of the victims of the Taliban blast came from the town.

And now community groups are busy organising events to raise money for charities including Help For Heroes.

Officials at Deighton WMC are putting on a charity day in June and have a special reason for doing so.

Several members of the family of Pte Anton Frampton, 21, one of the soldiers from the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, are club members.

They include his dad Gary Evans and his grandparents, Harry and Betty, who are two of the longest-serving members of the Deighton club.

Pte Frampton, of Longwood, died alongside Cpl Jake Hartley, of New Mill; Pte Daniel Wilford, of Cowlersley; Pte Chris Kershaw, of Bradford; Pte Daniel Wade, of Warrington, and Sgt Nigel Coupe, of Lytham St Annes.

All died when their Warrior armoured vehicle was blown up in Helmand province.
