Star boost for Terriers

STRUGGLING Huddersfield Town Football Club was being given a celebrity boost to its relegation fight today.

Hollywood actor Patrick Stewart - of Star Trek fame - was planning to be at the vital home game with Chesterfield, following his one-off charity performance in Dewsbury Town Hall last night.

He has pledged to do all he can to help the club but his support is unlikely to include investment.

"It is my intention to be there watching Huddersfield Town. It is a big, big match.

"Huddersfield Town and Leeds - it is agonising right now to see their plight. But I have not seen Huddersfield lose!"

Patrick, who was brought up and educated in Mirfield, has been a life-long fan of Town.

"These are very difficult times for the club and have been for most of this season," he said.

"They have replaced the manager and gone into administration.

"I wish their new manager every success.

"But more than anything else now, I would like to see the club survive and stay in the Second Division."
