A REUNION is planned for members of the former Gilder Hall Boys Club, Mirfield.
The event, on Friday October 17, will provide an opportunity for old friends and team- mates to share their memories.
The club went on to admit girls and later became known as Gilder Hall Youth Club.
Harold Laycock, of Sunnybank Avenue, Mirfield, whose father helped run the sports teams, is organising the event.
He said: "The club provided a wide range of activities such as football, table tennis, billiards and snooker.
"There was a gymnasium, woodwork room and an excellent coffee/tea bar.
"My father, also Harold Laycock, stayed on at the club when I was no longer eligible for under-18 football in 1950.
"My dad built some formidable teams who won many trophies over the years. His achievements led to him becoming known as Major Buckley, after the famous Leeds United manager of the time."
The 1955 Gilder Hall side beat Huddersfield Town juniors 5-0 in a knock-out cup final.
The club was open six days a week with a full-time leader.
The reunion will take place at 7.30pm at the Old Colonial, Dunbottle Lane, Mirfield.
