A CASINO complex opens in Huddersfield this weekend.
The Grosvenor Casino has raised the stakes by moving from town centre premises in Station Street to a bigger site at St Thomas's Road, Folly Hall.
The new casino, occupying part of the former HotShots sports bar and bowling alley, opens on Sunday.
Thirty jobs have been created with the £2.5m move to the 15,700sq ft complex. Forty existing staff are also moving from Station Street to the new venue.
The new casino can hold 385 people and includes a bar, restaurant, car parking, a card room, 10 slot machines and innovative gambling games, such as electronic roulette as well as traditional games such as roulette, blackjack and poker.
It will also feature Super Stud Poker, a national jackpot game linking the Huddersfield casino with 31 other Grosvenor casinos UK-wide and offering the prospect of winning a pot totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Manager Ian Turvey said: "We had outgrown our Station Street site and wanted to be able to offer better facilities."
The casino will open from 6pm to 6am, Sunday to Friday, and from 6pm to 4am on Saturday.
It is a members-only venue. Membership is free, but must be applied for at least 24 hours in advance. Members can bring up to six guests.
