A lorry toppled over as workmen worked on a Huddersfield school playing field.

No-one was hurt but the incident was a source of bemusement for pupils at Royds Hall Community School after it overturned this afternoon.

The huge lorry trailer tumbled on its side after delivering a load of soil to the Paddock school on Douglas Avenue as work is under way to maintain the school’s grounds.

It is thought the trailer lost its balance on the top field above the school.

The spectacle was captured on camera by Peter Lockwood and posted on Facebook with the caption “not a good ending”.

Two huge recovery trucks were brought in to right the stricken trailer.

A spokeswoman for the school told the Examiner that no-one was believed to be hurt in the incident on Monday afternoon, but the area was cordoned off while workmen attempted to resolve the situation.

She said: “It happened in the field above the school which is not used as a playing field.”

Police added that they had no record of any incidents, and that no-one had called to log it.
