A new mosaic is to be unveiled in Huddersfield town centre.

The mosaic has been designed by young people from the Our Voice project and will be erected and unveiled on October 28 by Clr Cath Harris and Clr Peter O’Neill, Kirklees Cabinet members for Children and Young People.

It will be displayed on the Huddersfield Library wall opposite the main entrance to British Home Stores.

Local artist Annie Beech worked with the young people to help them create a design that captures the architectural, landscape, high street and sporting heritage of Kirklees.

It features the team colours of Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants.

The central image will be a nod to the town’s architecture and the local landmark Castle Hill.

Our Voice is part of the council’s commitment to involve young people in the development of town centres.

It is part of a raft of projects which have been commissioned as part of the High Street Innovation Fund.
