Aston Martin’s V12-engined Lagonda Taraf is to be offered to clients in the UK.

The four-door super saloon, whose 550bhp 5.9-litre engine promises a top speed of 200mph, was originally planned for Middle Eastern markets alone. But Aston has bowed to customer demand, and will now make it available in selected other markets.

The Lagonda will be offered with bespoke personalisation, direct from Aston’s ‘Q’ division. Only 200 will be made, each of them by hand.

Featuring carbon fibre panels, the Lagonda will of course be the height of luxury inside. From the outside, visual cues harking back to the legendary William Towns Lagondas of the 1970s and 80s prompt Aston’s design boss Marek Reichman to calls it ‘automotive art.’

As befits fine art, the Lagonda will be breathtakingly expensive. Aston main dealer HR Owen advertised it for a short spell at £696,000 – and you’d get three Bentley Mulsannes for the same money.

That quoted price was withdrawn soon afterwards, so we await the truth on how much a Lagonda will cost you. Don’t go assuming they just put an extra zero on the end by accident, though.
