Two UK racing enthusiasts filmed the moment a car flipped over seven times before hitting a barrier at the Nurburgring race track in Germany.

Simon Wade and Peter Hurford-Jones had taken their custom-built Nissan 200 SX to the track, according to GetSurrey , and were filming their lap of the iconic circuit when the crash happened. A driver in a Renault Megane overtook the car and hit a crash barrier at over100mph, scattering debris across the track - but miraculously was able to walk away with cuts and bruises.

Businessman Mr Wade, 31, said: "We were a few minutes into the lap and we noticed a car behind us approach quite fast.

"The guy must have miscalculated the corner and hit the barrier at well over 100mph," he continued.

"I got out and ran towards the car. I was running down the track and could see what looked like women's clothes, so I thought there might be someone else in the car."

However, the driver was alone in the car and was reportedly able to walk away with minor injuries.

The Nurburgring, a 13-mile circuit used by car makers to hone their performance cars, was famously described by racing legend and three time Formula One world champion Sir Jackie Stewart as 'Green Hell' because of its demanding corners.
