Man accused of toddler blaze murder

A South Wales man has been charged with the murder of a three-year-old girl who died following an arson attack on her home.

Francesca Bimpson was one of four children injured in the blaze in Norwood Grove, Liverpool, and died three weeks later at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Graham Heaps, 43, will face court on Friday charged with the murder of Francesca, five counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Heaps, of Woodside Terrace, Crumlin, Newport, will appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court, said Merseyside Police.

After the blaze, just after midnight on December 2, Francesca's sisters, Anne-Marie, 17 months, and Christina, eight, plus her 14-year-old brother Kieron were treated for the effects of smoke.

Their mother, Eleanor Skelhorne, 36, suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

Francesca's father, Kieron Bimpson, also 36, broke his legs jumping from a first-floor window.

The family were all asleep when the front of their home was set alight.

Mr Bimpson jumped out of the house first so he could catch the children when they jumped.

But terrified Francesca fled her mother's grip and ran back to her own bedroom.
