Tributes to fireman killed in blaze

The family of the fireman who died while tackling an early morning blaze in a pub paid tribute to him.

Ewan Williamson, 35, was killed and one of his colleagues was injured after a floor inside the building collapsed.

Approximately 70 firefighters were sent to the Balmoral bar in Dalry Road, Edinburgh, after the fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service later released a statement from Mr Williamson's family.

They said: "This has come as a horrific shock to the family. Ewan was a wonderful, kind, sporty and outgoing person who was loved by everyone.

"He loved the Fire Service. We would ask that the public remember members of the service who risk their lives every day."
