It’s not often that you would seriously describe something as ubiquitous but if you were to, then surely search engine Google would deserve that title.

So much is the product part of life that rather than people saying “I’ll use an internet search engine to find the answer to that” they now mostly say “I’ll Google it.”

But using the search on my phone today I discovered you can now just speak your search, rather than the extremely tiresome, old-fashioned (!) way of actually typing it in.

I asked Google where I was and it got it right first time, then asked the search engine what the weather was like in Huddersfield – and again it got it right.

Even with my flat Yorkshire vowels and Barnsley accent, the search engine wasn’t fazed.

Have a go and let me know how you get on – does it recognise your request or does it fall on deaf digital ears?
