Robert Carter: Body found in Netherton woods in search for missing man

Detectives say there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances

Police searching for a missing Netherton man have found a body in woodland.

Robert Carter, 41, has last seen heading off from home at 7.10pm last night.

Police and mountain rescue teams – backed by the force helicopter – launched a search overnight.

This morning police issued an appeal for information, expressing concern for Mr Carter’s welfare.

Police and fire crews were called to Netherton Woods, off Meltham Road, on the Netherton and Armitage Bridge border, this morning.

In a statement Det Insp Mark Truelove, of Kirklees CID, said: “Police searching for missing Robert Carter from Huddersfield have found the body of a man.

“Officers searching in Netherton Woods located the body of an adult man at around 11.41am this morning.

“A post mortem and formal identification will be conducted but at this stage there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“Mr Carter’s family have been made aware of the development.”
