After an agonising wait, Happy Valley is back with its second series next month.

The dark crime drama, filmed in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax and Huddersfield, scooped the BAFTA for Best Drama at the 2015 awards and is back for another nail-biting six-part series.

The BBC has confirmed the date for the first episode of the second series:

Happy Valley series two will debut on BBC One on Tuesday February 9 at 9pm.

Fans of the show also have the chance to see the first episode before it's aired on television, as a special charity event at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax.

The showcase – an Evening with Happy Valley – will be held on February 5 at 7.30pm.

It will take the form of a charity event to raise money for The Community Foundation for Calderdale , which will go to communities hit by the recent floods.

And audience members will also get the chance to fire questions at the cast, including show star Sarah Lancashire, who plays police sergeant Catherine Cawood , James Norton (Tommy Lee Royce) and Halifax-based writer and producer Sally Wainwright. Other cast members due to attend are Amelia Bullmore, George Costigan and Vincent Franklin.

Tickets are now available from the Victoria Theatre box office and are priced at £30 and £35.
