A sandwich which could contain fragments of metal has been recalled by three major supermarkets.

Aldi, Co-op and Morrisons are asking anyone who bought a chicken and bacon Caesar wrap with the following use by dates (below) should not eat it.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said that convenience food manufacturer Greencore is withdrawing the product which is sold in different packaging at different supermarkets as a 'precautionary measure'.

The Irish company, that has nine plants in the UK, makes sandwich, wraps, boxed salads and other convenience foods for high street chains, supermarkets, petrol station forecourts and convenience stores.

A chicken wrap. Not the one that has been recalled.

The affected products should be return to where they were purchased for a full refund.

No other Greencore products - nor other Aldi, Co-op or Morrisons products - are believed to affected, reports the Liverpool Echo .

An FSA notice read: "Greencore, as a precautionary measure, is recalling various brands of Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wraps because they may contain metal fragments which could present a safety risk.

"The products are manufactured by Greencore and sold in Aldi , Co-op Food and Morrisons retail stores."

It added: "If you have bought any of the products, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought.

"Greencore are recalling the products. Aldi, Co-op Food and Morrisons are displaying point of sale notices in retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
