A Huddersfield Town player has been involved in a car crash on Leeds Road.

Winger Joe Lolley is reported to be "absolutely fine" after the shock accident, which took place near to the Costa Coffee turn off at 11am today.

Police said that a woman in the other car involved in the crash received possible head injuries but they were not believed to be serious.

According to a spokesman from Huddersfield Town, 23-year-old Lolley was thought to have been either driving to or away from the team's training ground when the accident occurred.

He is not on the line up for today's home match against Barnsley due to suffering a leg injury during the away match against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Responding himself to concerned fans on Twitter, who messaged him after hearing about the accident, Lolley said: "Absolutely fine! One of those things."

The road was temporarily blocked by police whilst both cars were removed.

Kick off for the Huddersfield Town vs Barnsley FC match will be at 3pm.
