Jessica Ennis-Hill is the latest star to fall victim to Katie Hopkins' acid tongue.

The controversial columnist has taken aim at the Olympic athlete after she told Sheffield United bosses to remove her name from a stand if the club re-sign shamed footballer Ched Evans.

Although there has been no move to re-sign their former striker at this time, earlier this week Jessica issued a statement saying: "I believe being a role model to young people is a huge honour and those in positions of influence in communities should respect the role they play in young people's lives and set a good example."

"If Evans was to be re-signed by the club it would completely contradict these beliefs."

The Bramall Lane stand was re-named after Jessica, a Blades fan, following her Olympic success in 2012.

Katie, who came to Ched's defence last week saying "he didn't want to be a role model", tweeted today: "Jessica Ennis is Supreme judge in the court of public opinion.

"Being able to run fast & jump high makes you super qualified. Who knew?"

Predictably, Katie was soon bombarded by people asking her what her own qualifications are.

This comes after katie wrote on Twitter earlier this week: “Ched doesn’t want to be a role model. He wants to be a footballer. If YOU need to resign to show you disapprove (are jealous) – crack on.”

Twitter users were quick to hit back saying they disagreed. One wrote: "He raped a young woman? He ruined her life, so why be able to continue as normal?"

Another said: "Footballers are role models whether they want to be or not."

Ched, 25, was released from jail in October after serving half half of a five-year sentence for raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel and has now been allowed back to train with his old team, leading to the resignation of Sheffield United patron Charlie Webster who was outraged by the decision.

We have contacted a rep for Jessica for comment.
