DAVID CAMERON TO PUT HOUSING POLICY AT CENTRE OF CONFERENCE SPEECH

David Cameron is to relax planning rules with the aim of helping thousands of young people to buy their first home.

The Prime Minister will use his keynote speech to the Conservative Party conference in Manchester on Wednesday to announce a "national crusade" to get homes built, setting out his ambition to turn "generation rent" into "generation buy".

His plans form part of a programme which the PM hopes will see the 2010s looked back upon as "the turnaround decade", during which the Government not only dealt with the UK's economic crisis but also resolved deep-seated social problems such as the housing shortage.

PREGNANT WOMEN 'SHOULD BE ADVISED TO TOTALLY AVOID ALCOHOL'

Women should be warned to steer clear of alcohol for the whole of pregnancy to avoid harming their baby, two experts have argued.

Mary Mather, a retired paediatrician, and Kate Wiles, a doctoral research fellow in obstetric medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, said the "only ethical advice that can be given is complete abstinence from alcohol in pregnancy".

They said women were faced with "confusing" and "contradictory" messages about drinking while pregnant.

OVARIAN TISSUE TRANSPLANT 'BOOSTS PREGNANCY CHANCES'

Women who have ovarian tissue removed and then transplanted back to them at a later date have a good chance of falling pregnant, a study has found.

Those women who put their fertility "on ice" due to cancer also have little risk of the disease coming back as a result of the transplanted tissue.

The research, published in the journal Human Reproduction, found that transplanted ovarian tissue can last at least 10 years in some cases, giving women several chances to bear children.

The unnamed officers, aged 23 and 24, who were part-way through their two-year probationary period, resigned after a disciplinary hearing found they should be dismissed.

Chief Constable Giles York said the pair were "remorseful" but added their behaviour was "inexplicable" and had caused distress to families of the victims of the crash.

CLAIROL'S CHRISTINA HENDRICKS HAIR DYE ADVERT 'MISLEADINGLY EXAGGERATED' RESULTS

An advert for hair dye featuring Mad Men star Christina Hendricks has been banned for misleadingly exaggerating the product's ability to transform her red hair to blonde.

The television ad for Clairol Nice 'N Easy featured Hendricks saying: "I've been the same shade of red for many years. I think it's time to change it up. Goodbye red, hello golden blonde."

Although the ad showed her with blonde hair after the treatment, two viewers who described themselves as "hair colour educators" complained the change could not have been achieved using the product alone.
