UK NOT A 'SAFE HAVEN FOR CORRUPT MONEY', DAVID CAMERON TO SAY

London's property market could be providing a home to "dirty money", David Cameron will acknowledge as he announces measures to tackle shady foreign shell companies being used to buy luxury houses.

The Prime Minister will point to concerns that some properties are being bought with "plundered or laundered cash" and announce a consultation on increasing transparency.

Mr Cameron will say he will not allow the UK to become a "safe haven for corrupt money" as he announces the measures in a major speech during his tour of south-east Asia.

A police probe is under way into allegations that a peer took cocaine while cavorting with prostitutes.

A uniformed police officer was on guard outside the door of Nelson House in Dolphin Square, London, last night following two days of lurid accusations against Lord Sewel.

The former Labour minister has requested a leave of absence from the House of Lords while investigations are carried out, promising not to enter Parliament or claim allowances - but left the door open to a future return to the red benches.

UK ECONOMIC GROWTH SET TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER WEAK START

Growth figures published today are set to show the economy bouncing back after a weak start to the year.

Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to have increased by 0.7% in the second quarter after falling back to a rate of 0.4% in the previous period - the weakest pace since the end of 2013.

The acceleration in growth is expected to fuel renewed speculation about interest rates after Bank of England governor Mark Carney said two weeks ago that the UK was "moving closer" to a hike.

ANDY BURNHAM: MODERN LABOUR COULD NOT HAVE CREATED NHS

Today's Labour politicians could not have created the NHS because they do not have the courage for big ideas, leadership hopeful Andy Burnham will say in a campaign speech.

In an address marking the 70th anniversary of the radical Attlee Labour government, Mr Burnham will say he has become "increasingly disillusioned" by his party's drift away from the voters.

And he will warn a "timid" Labour Party it had become "frightened of its own shadow" as he moves to get back on the front foot as the contest becomes dominated by left-winger Jeremy Corbyn.

SIZE MATTERS, ADMITS TOPSHOP, AFTER SKINNY MANNEQUIN COMPLAINT

A high street fashion brand has agreed to stop using unrealistically tall and skinny mannequins after a complaint went viral.

Laura Berry posted a photograph of a mannequin used in a Topshop store in Bristol, slamming the "ridiculous" shape, and asked the store to consider the "impression you have on women and young girls".

She wrote: "This mannequin is quite frankly ridiculously-shaped. Young women aspire to the somewhat cult image your store offers. Which I'm sure you're aware by your sales figures and hashtags on Instagram."

'USE EUTHANASIA VANS ON OLD PEOPLE' SAYS KATIE HOPKINS

Katie Hopkins is "super-keen on euthanasia vans" and says there are "far too many old people".

The media personality - who launches her own panel show If Katie Hopkins Ruled The World next month - said it is "ridiculous" to live in a country "where we can put dogs to sleep but not people".

Her comments come shortly after she admitted regretting some of the extreme language she used against migrants in a column she wrote in The Sun entitled "Rescue boats? I'd use gunships to stop migrants".

MARY BERRY 'NOT THE BRIGHTEST BUTTON IN CLASS'

Mary Berry may be one of the nation's most loved foodies but she was unable to get on a cookery teaching course due to not being "clever enough" at maths.

The Great British Bake Off judge, 80, has also said that the first thing she learned to bake was a Christmas cake at school.

As fans gear up for the latest series of the BBC baking show, Berry said it is "terribly important" she and Paul Hollywood do not get involved with the contestants outside of the famous tent.
