A soldier was arrested after a mass brawl at a Manchester bus station.

Shoppers and travellers were left horrified as violence broke out at the city centre Piccadilly Gardens interchange on Saturday afternoon.

Two groups of men began fighting in front of the bus stops, punching and kicking each other.

Dramatic footage of the fight posted onto You Tube shows several men being attacked as they lie stricken on the ground.

Meanwhile onlookers can be heard screaming and pleading with the men to stop.

Police said they received several reports from different members of the public about the fight attended just before 3pm.

At that point both groups of men had left the scene so officers scoured the area looking for them.

They managed to locate one of the groups and identify the men.

However no complaints were made of any assaults.

It is unclear what injuries, if any, were suffered by any of the men involved.

One man was arrested for being absent without leave from the army, police confirmed.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
