WhatsApp has launched a desktop app today - so you don't need to worry about keeping in touch during the workday if you forget your phone!

The desktop app is synced with the phone app so all your conversations and messages are available on your computer.

How does it work?

You must have the free WhatsApp mobile app installed on your phone - if you're reading this on mobile, click here to download the iOS version, or click here to download the Android version.

How do I get WhatsApp desktop?

Once you've got the mobile app installed, open this story on your desktop computer or laptop and click here to download the desktop app for Mac (OS X 10.9 and higher) or Windows (8 and higher).

Then, open the app and scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone (look for WhatsApp Web menu under settings).
