Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival is back on September 27-28, with cuisine from around the world, local wines and ales, entertainment, cooking demonstration, competitions and more.

To whet your appetite, we've taken a look back to last year's festival - which saw thousands of hungry punters flock to the seventh annual festival.

The foodie event boasted more than 70 food and drink stalls, as well as a German beer bar and sausage grill and a muffin baking contest.

Ale and wine fans also enjoyed master classes – and a few tipples – from The Nook Brewery and Holmfirth Vineyard.

Festival director Maria Cotton said this year’s festival had been the most popular yet - will this year top 2013's success?

She told the Examiner after last year's festival: “We had about 15,000 people on Saturday. Last year we had about 12,000.

“It’s been fantastic – even busier than usual.

“The park and ride has been so popular we had to close it. We’ll be looking at expanding that next year.

“Everything has gone really well. The chocolate workshops for kids were all full. We’ve had a lot more children and families this year. The traditional entertainment has been really successful.”

This year's festival hopes to be a celebration of food and cooking, taking place across the centre of Holmfith, in the Market, Towngate, Hollowgate and Library areas, with parking available at Sands Recreation Ground.

The festival runs from 10am-5pm on the Saturday and Sunday.
