ALMOST 1,000 people said “farewell” to Huddersfield’s top bowler.

They packed into Park Wood Crematorium at Elland yesterday for a funeral service for Paul Sigsworth.

Sigsworth, 47, lost a battle with cancer last month.

The man known as Siggy was brought up in Brackenhall. He took up bowling as a teenager and went on to win countless honours in the sport.

Many of his former bowling teammates and opponents joined the congregation yesterday for the service.

Also there were many who had played football with Sigsworth, who found success with top local side Brackenhall.

There were tributes from his brother, Graham, from former football colleague John Foster and from bowler Keith Hatzer.
