A HUNDRED jobs are to be created in Huddersfield by the new owners of supermarket chain Kwik Save, it was confirmed today.

The company, which has set up its headquarters at Fitzwilliam House, Fitzwilliam Street, is holding a recruitment day tomorrow from 8.45am to 7pm at Huddersfield Town Hall.

Kwik Save Ltd, which has more than 170 stores UK-wide, is recruiting for buyers, general office staff and for roles in customer service, finance, health and safety, facilities management, IT support and personnel.

Kwik Save Ltd said it had secured the jobs of more than 3,000 workers nationwide with its takeover of the loss-making discount retail chain from Somerfield last month.

Managing director Paul Niklas said: "We look forward to strengthening the local presence of Kwik Save Ltd in Yorkshire with the recruitment of up to 100 jobs at the new head office."

Mr Niklas is joined on the board by stores director Steve McArdle, business development director Alan Birchall and non-executive chairman Richard Kirk, chief executive of discount clothing retailer Peacock.
