ANCIENT methods of spring cleaning will come under the spotlight at an event at Oakwell Hall.

The Living History afternoon will explore herbs and natural materials used for cleaning in the 17th century.

Costumed members of the Friends of Oakwell will demonstrate methods for cleaning without the use of modern chemicals and sprays.

They will be using products like olive oil, vinegar, salt and lemon and herbs to do the job in an organic way.

There will be tips and recipes for people to take away.

Children will be able to do embroidery, which they can take home.

There will also be a quiz to see if people can identify all the birds getting ready to make their own nests ready for spring.

There will be a range of other activities, refreshments and a virtual tour of the hall.

The event takes place on Sunday March 13.

Activities are free but hall admission prices apply. For details call 01924 326240.
