A suspected shoplifter was spotted fleeing Primark in Huddersfield this morning with armfuls of clothes - before the store even opened!
A passer-by saw the unusual scene and alerted police to the theft from the New Street store which is a stones throw from Huddersfield Police station on Castlegate.
The suspect was arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of theft.
Detective Jim Griffiths of Huddersfield CID said: “It appears the complainant has come in to the store and walked out with a load of clothes before the store even opened.
“A 20-year-old remains in police custody.”
