Christmas comes early for Freda

£2,000 for Examiner prizewinner

A WOMAN who has helped raise thousands of pounds for others is in the money herself.

Mrs Freda Trigg, 74, is the latest winner of the Examiner's super Six Days Of Christmas competition.

And she has won £2,000 worth of vouchers to spend at Thatchers furnishings in Threadneedle Street, Huddersfield.

It was an early Christmas present for Mrs Trigg, who lives in St Paul's Road, Kirkheaton.

She is the secretary of the Kirkheaton support group for Kirkwood Hospice and over the last two years has helped raise more than £14,000.

Mrs Trigg, a widow, is also a member of the local senior citizens club and helped celebrate her win at the group's Christmas party yesterday.

She is also a member of the Royal British Legion's Huddersfield branch.

Mrs Trigg, who has two daughters, said: "It's absolutely fantastic.

"I enter Examiner competitions on a regular basis but I have never won anything before."

To win the spending spree, Mrs Trigg collected vouchers over four weeks and her name was the first out of the hat.

Draws for the other prizes take place each day.

Tomorrow's winner will receive £2,000 to spend at the Colne Valley Garden Centre in Milnsbridge.

And Saturday's winner will have a £2,000 spending spree at Beatties department store in Kingsgate.

In addition to the main prize there are 10 runners-up prizes of £50 high street vouchers.
