A TOTAL of 21 banning orders were handed out to Huddersfield Town fans last year.

New figures from the Home Office also reveal that 36 supporters were arrested for bad behaviour at matches involving The Terriers.

The club with the most banning orders are Leeds United with 115.

The club with the highest number of arrests was Tottenham Hotspur with 169.

Town's local rivals Bradford City had 32 of their followers given banning orders.

The Home Office figures show that a record number of football banning orders have been imposed, up 7%.

But arrests for football-related offences fell, also by 7%, for the third consecutive season.

Home Office minister Vernon Coaker said: "A 7% decrease in football-related arrests, coupled with a 7% increase in football banning orders, shows that tough legislation and targeted police continues to be effective.

"However, we are not complacent. Football disorder remains a lingering menace and will not be tolerated."

FA chief executive Brian Barwick said: "The latest figures reflect the positive impact of banning orders and effective policing in reducing disorder at football matches and the on-going culture change among the fans themselves."

Last week, the Town club appealed for help from fans to stop missile throwing at games.

They fear action from the FA after incidents at matches this season and last.

Club secretary Ann Hough warned troublemakers faced a ban from the Galpharm Stadium.
