A young man has been assaulted and robbed while on his way home from work.

The 22-year-old was attacked on Norcross Avenue in Oakes at around 2am on Friday morning.

He was first assaulted by a man who then ran off with his bag which contained money, leaving the victim severely shaken.

Now police have issued a plea for witnesses to help track down the suspect.

He is described as being white, 5ft 11ins tall, wearing matching dark tracksuit bottoms and a hooded top, with the hood up covering his face.

DC Sarah Culley of Kirklees CID, said: “We are investigating this incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who might have seen a man dressed in black with a hood up running away from the scene with a bag.
