SEVERAL groups in Kirklees have received cash boosts to help improve community life.
The Community Chest organisation has given £26,000 to groups throughout Kirklees.
It distributes money from the Government's Neighbourhood Renewal Unit to support the work that community groups do to improve their neighbourhoods.
The scheme is managed by Voluntary Action Kirklees. Grants range from £50 to £5,000.
Some grants went to playgroups.
The Ponderosa Rural Therapeutic Centre in Heckmondwike was given cash to provide gardening skills for adults with special needs.
Dalton Dynamoes received money for a women's sports tournament and Thornhill Lees Community Centre got money for an art club and sequence dancing.
