POLICE snatch squads have made more than 25 arrests in a high-profile crime blitz across Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

They have raided more than 30 homes in the past 72 hours and by this morning had made at least 20 arrests.

Many were detained in their nightclothes as police struck. Those held by the squads face charges involving burglary, theft, handling stolen goods and drugs offences.

And property worth tens of thousands of pounds has been recovered in the raids – part of the undercover Operation Embleton, which was six months in the planning.
