FOUR people were hurt when their car hit the wall of a railway bridge.

The driver of the silver Nissan Almera, a 23-year-old woman, suffered head injuries and was "stable" in Dewsbury District Hospital today.

Two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old were also injured and were treated at hospital and then released.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the smash, which happened at 9.48pm on Sunday on the A644 Huddersfield Road at Scout Hill in Dewsbury.

The car was travelling from Ravensthorpe to Dewsbury when it left the road and hit the railway bridge which carries a cycle route.

Fire crews were forced to cut the roof from the vehicle to extricate the driver and front seat passenger, who had become trapped.

Anyone who saw the car before the collision is asked to contact Kirklees North Road Policing on 01924 206346.
