ANOTHER 44 flats have gone up for sale at a fast-selling development in Huddersfield.

The one and two-bedroomed flats form the second phase of a £20m scheme to transform disused industrial buildings at Firth Street.

The development - named 1535 The Melting Point - has been billed by one estate agent as the UK's fastest-selling housing development.

The latest phase of the scheme comprises 44 flats, priced from £84,950 to £139,950.

The 44 flats have been created by converting the former dyehouse of Priestroyd Mill at the corner of Firth Street and Queen Street South and the neighbouring B Baker building.

Once completed, 1535 The Melting Pot will provide 190 luxury flats, together with a restaurant and leisure facilities.

The first phase of 57 flats, housed in the former Priestroyd Mill, have now been sold.

Richard Brown, sales and marketing manager for Honley-based developer Lanson, said: "The success of phase one has meant we are still being inundated with requests for apartments.

"Phase two should go some way to satisfying that demand. Its pricing makes it ideal for first-time buyers and investors."

He added: "The north façade of the dyehouse will also provide occupants of apartments over the canal with balconies, while the ground floor of the B Baker building will be dedicated to a new bar."

Once complete, 1535 The Melting Point will comprise six buildings.

The whole development will be linked by two landscaped gardens, with water features, sculptures and seating.

The development is scheduled to be built in four phases over four years. It will also include work to improve the section of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal running alongside.

The phase two flats will include high-tech features, such as home theatre systems, the ability to set "lighting zones" and sound systems to pipe music into different rooms.

The flats will also feature kitchens and appliances, limestone and mirror-finished designer bathroom suites, exposed stone walls and spacious living accommodation.

Most two-bedroomed flats will also come with a secure parking space in the building's basement.

When completed, 1535 will also provide services similar to those of a five-star hotel, with concierge, secure grounds, maid service, room service, dry cleaning and catering.
