OVER 70 people took part in the first Kirklees Sports Makers Convention at The University of Huddersfield.

Among the group who attended the first convention was pharmaceutical student Gina Barrow, captain of the University girls tennis team, who is trying to generate more interest in tennis. Alex Blow who is looking to start a girls’ basketball team was also in attendance.

Daniel Dunn, a student activities officer at the University, said the event was aimed at encouraging people to engage in sport no matter what their ability.

Sports Makers are required to complete at least 10 hours of activity and to log their hours in a journal to see the difference they are making.

Anyone interested in becoming a SportsMaker can sign up at www.sportsmaker.co.uk or alternatively contact Ashley Lucas on 01484 234093 for more details.
