EIGHT people arrested by drugs squad officers have been released on police bail.

The six men and two women were arrested in three operations in Mirfield, Batley and Huddersfield.

Officers raided a house in Mirfield and arrested two men aged 29 and 20, from Huddersfield, and Mirfield and a woman aged 17, also from Huddersfield.

Large amounts of what are believed to be class A drugs were recovered from the address.

Four men were detained in an unrelated operation when police searched an address in the Batley Carr area.

A 20-year-old man from Staincliffe was arrested along with two men from Batley, aged 18 and 21, and a 25-year-old man from Huddersfield.

A 21-year-old woman was the last to be arrested when officers entered a house in Huddersfield and found a quantity of suspected drugs. They also found a large quantity of cash.

Det Insp Mick Turner said: "This forms part of our contribution towards Operation Crackdown, which is a national campaign focusing on class A drug dealers.

"We carry out this type of action on a daily basis and achieve some great results."
