LOCAL hospitals have received a healthy donation.

The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, which oversees care at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital, was awarded £8,000 from Sovereign Health Care.

The money is set to support nurses and training.

The local Trust was among six Yorkshire hospital trusts who received donations. Another was the Mid Yorkshire Trust – which oversees care at Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury District Hospital.

Sovereign Health Care chief executive Russ Piper said: “We are committed to supporting the vital services provided by our regional hospitals and the excellent work of nurses; they are an essential part of our community and health care provision.

“I am thrilled that we are once again able to make these grants to our local hospitals to further their good work.”
