DOGS have held down honest jobs for thousands of years.

From helping police, rounding up sheep or guiding the blind, they have played a big part in mans' life.

But could they survive in the fast-paced world of human resources, IT, accountancy or law?

Next month is the time to find out.

Take Your Dog to Work Day gives employees the chance to have their beloved pet in the office on Tuesday, September 21.

The event is aimed at bringing benefits to both pet and owner.

If a pet spends many days alone, it can be a welcome opportunity for them to socialise.

The day - run by the Blue Cross animal welfare charity and sponsored by Pedigree foods - has become one of the biggest events on the doggy calendar.

In the past they have gone to work in schools, hospitals, hairdressers and banks across the world.

Some owners even started taking them into work regularly.
