A WEEK-LONG fund- raising extravaganza is being organised by a Huddersfield pub.

Landlady Hazel Antonini and regulars at the Ashbrow pub, Bradford Road, Fixby, are raising money for the Yorkshire Cancer Research Campaign.

"Our efforts are all in memory of a regular customer, Bert Harrison, who died from cancer several weeks ago," said Hazel.

Events have been planned every day at the pub between Saturday, August 18, and Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.

They include a coffee morning, tombola and cake stall, a race night on the 18th and a car boot sale on the 19th, with a disco in the evening. There will be a head shave on the 20th, bingo and supper on the 21st, a car treasure hunt and supper on the 22nd and a game show on the 23rd similar to television's Family Fortunes.

Entertainer Dave Sagar will be singing on Friday, August 24, and on Saturday, August 25, there will be a promise auction and draw for a mountain bike raffle, for which tickets will have been sold all week.

A pub crawl around pubs in Bradford Road and Leeds Road will take place on Sunday, August 26.

Bank Holiday Monday will be a family fun day including a barbecue, bouncy castle and face painting.
