TWO turkeys who were looking for a home for Christmas have been taken in by new owners.

Max and Jasper - four-month-old males - needed a new place to stay after owner Kim Phelan had to give them away.

Kim, 17, of Cowlersley, had bought the turkeys as chicks in September.

But she was forced to part with them as they grew up because they could not live side by side with their sister Poppet and mother Lacey any longer.

Following an appeal in the Examiner, Kim received five enquiries from people wanting to keep Max and Jasper as pets.

She finally gave them away to a Marsden woman.

They will now live alongside some hens, goats and a horse.

Kim, a photography student at Huddersfield New College, said: "It's nice to see them go to a good home."
