HOUSEHOLDS in Huddersfield have been hit with a triple price rise whammy.
And it could add hundreds of pounds to people's cost of living.
British Gas announced a shock 22% rise in gas and electricity prices yesterday.
And West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire Service confirmed 5% increases in their costs for the next 12 months - adding pounds to every bill.
The news stunned families who have been warned of a 5% rise in Kirklees Council tax bills, adding an average £59 a year.
Centrica, which owns British Gas, blamed the shock move on soaring wholesale gas prices, which it said were now the highest in Europe.
The rise follows price rises by other energy suppliers. It will take effect on March 1.
Energywatch said the announcement represented the "bleakest day yet" for energy consumers.
