A MAN accused of murdering his partner appeared at court in Huddersfield yesterday.

Paul Walton, 33, of Hopkinson Road, Sheepridge, was accused of murdering 35-year-old Theresa Simpson at her home in Roundway, Honley, on Saturday morning.

Mother-of-four Miss Simpson had been seeing Walton since last summer, Huddersfield Magistrates' Court was told.

The court was also told one of Miss Simpson's friends, Amanda Drane, stayed overnight at her home on Friday. She awoke on Saturday morning to see her friend running naked and covered in blood from the shed at the bottom of the garden.

Miss Simpson was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary but was dead on arrival.

Walton was arrested a short time later in Marsden.

Magistrates remanded Walton in custody, partly for his own protection. He is due to appear at Bradford Crown Court next Monday.
