Actress Zoe Lucker has confessed that crippling anxiety leaves her feeling “guilty about everything”.

The Huddersfield-born Footballers’ Wives star does not like going out in the evenings and worries about leaving her six-year-old daughter Lily.

The 41-year-old, who has also appeared in EastEnders, Waterloo Road and is currently in Hollyoaks, told Love Sunday magazine: “I sound like a freak but I worry about absolutely everything.

“I wouldn’t say I have agoraphobia, but I don’t like going out in the evenings now, I just like to know the family are in and safe at night.

“I get very nervous about any big do, and the idea of being on a red carpet just makes me literally shake. I’ve always been like that but it gets worse as I get older. Even watching myself on screen gives me palpitations. I’m very hard on myself.”

Her current role as Reenie McQueen in Hollyoaks means she works in Liverpool during the week while her partner Jim Herbert, 36, and Lily, stay at home in Surrey.

Lucker said: “I feel guilty about everything. Lily’s front tooth has been wobbling and I have been thinking, ‘Please, please, don’t come out when I’m not here’.

“I have to constantly reassure myself that everything is OK, Lily is in a safe place and it’s good for her to see I’m working.

“I’m in the swing of it now, but at first it was overwhelming and emotionally exhausting."
